The 5 Best Boba Places in Austin

best boba places in Austin

So many great boba shops have started popping up across the US - but there’s no better place to get boba than in Austin, Texas. Here’s our official list of the best boba in Austin:

1) Tapioca House

Tapioca House is located on Guadalupe Street, at the intersection between UT’s campus and downtown Austin. It’s a cozy boba shop where you can stop by after an afternoon of sightseeing, or study for your upcoming exam in a relaxing ambience. It has the best boba in Austin, with more than 50 different drinks and over 15 toppings to choose from, as well as giving customer control over the sugar and ice level. Among the most popular drinks are the taro milk tea and thai tea with lychee jelly, whose sweet flavors burst in your mouth after the first sip. It is also known for its delicious, homemade food - the crispy chicken bites and one-of-a-kind house special noodles are must-haves, coated in a savory sauce offered only at Tapioca House.

Whether you’re looking to quickly refresh during the day and or find a new study spot on campus, Tapioca House has everything you’re looking for.

2) Gong Cha

Gong Cha is one of the most popular boba spots on campus and is located inside the Dobie Shopping Center. They sell a variety of drinks, including milk foam and milk tea, and offers toppings such as coconut jelly and aloe. While the boba is good quality, the drinks are often on the smaller side, and the wait times can be particularly long during the afternoon.

3) Coco’s Cafe

Coco’s Cafe is a cute spot on Guad that offers drinks and food. Some of their more popular drinks are the honeydew smoothie and the mango slushie. The size of the drinks are smaller than both Tapioca House and Gong Cha, and while it’s nice inside, the shop is a little cramped and sometimes it can be difficult to find tables to work.

4) Moge Tea

Moge Tea is new to Austin and has attracted a lot of people because of its aesthetic drinks and interior. It has a wide variety of specialty drinks from cheese foam fruit teas to yakult flavored teas, but it also still has many of the classic flavors. A bonus is that you can reuse your cups at home! For ordering, it is very simple using the electronic kiosk and you can fully customize your drink. The drinks are a little pricey compared to other shops, but if you download SnackPass, you can use rewards, order ahead, and get some sweet discounts. Moge Tea is not the best boba shop in Austin, but it is a good option if you are in the area.

5) Feng Cha

Feng Cha is farther from campus and is a good place to get boba if you want to try out more unique flavors, such as overflowing grapefruit and the citrus lord. However, due to COVID, there are no places to currently sit inside, so if you are looking for a place to relax, this may not be the best spot.
